Bookmarklets are bookmarks/favorites that, when clicked, run a snippet of code rather than send the browser to a specific URL. Just like regular bookmarks/favorites, these can be stored either in the bookmark/favorites menu or on the bookmark/favorites toolbar. Use these links to jump to the appropriate instructions for installing a bookmarklet. Remember, do not install a bookmarklet unless you either a) understand the code or b) trust the developer.

Firefox 3 bookmark
- Right click on the link for the bookmarklet and select Bookmark This Link from the displayed menu.
- Enter the name for the bookmark.
- Select the appropriate folder from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Save button.
- If you need to customize the bookmarklet, right click on it and select Properties from the displayed menu. In the Location field, make the necessary changes then click the Save button.

- Right click on the link for the bookmarklet and select Bookmark This Link from the displayed menu.
- Enter the name for the bookmark.
- Select Bookmarks Toolbar from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Save button.
- If your bookmark toolbar is not enabled, go to the View menu and select Toolbars then Bookmarks Toolbar. Voila, your bookmarklet should be sitting there at the top of the browser window.
- If you need to customize the bookmarklet, right click on it and select Properties from the displayed menu. In the Location field, make the necessary changes then click the Save button.
Internet Explorer 8 favorite
- Right click on the link for the bookmarklet and select Add to Favorites… from the displayed menu.
- You may get a popup message at this point warning You are adding a favorite that might not be safe. If you trust the bookmarklet author, click the Yes.
- Enter the name for the favorite.
- Select the appropriate folder from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Add button.
- If you need to customize the bookmarklet, right click on it and select Properties from the displayed menu. In the URL field (Web Document tab), make the necessary changes then click the OK button.
